“Forgiveness is not the misguided act of condoning irresponsible, hurtful behavior. Nor is it a superficial turning of the other cheek that leaves us feeling victimized and martyred. Rather it is the finishing of old business that allows us to experience the present, free of contamination from the past.”
“To err is human, to forgive is divine.”
The English poet, Alexander Pope
And forgiveness, doctors say, can also keep us healthy.
( – Our world is unhealthy – so much anger, revenge and hate…!)
– Chronic anxiety and distress causes many disorders and affectd a lot – our immune system included! ( – Our world seems to be and get more sick!)
– There are no magic steps or ways to forgiveness and it is a process, sometimes very long and hard! It is also not about overlooking or denying what has happaned or what we feel about what has happened…..
– One of my frequent reflections how many times are we able to forgive and is it always for “good” in a broader and longer term perspective! to forgive unconditionally ( – thinking about those who repetitively hurt and err without regard for others, knowing that they will be forgiven “anytime”!)
